Carrol "Bruce" Brock

Carrol “Bruce” Brock of Defiance, Missouri passed away on the morning of June 19, 2017 after years of battling Cadasil & dementia.

He was born in DuQuoin, Illinois on June 29 1946 to Rev. Hiley D. Brock and Chloe (Jones) Brock. Bruce was one of three siblings.

He spent many years as a juvenile officer for the city of St. Louis, (Hogan Street) and several nursing homes as a nurse’s aide.

After graduating from DuQuoin high school (class of 1968) Bruce attended Ouachita University. As the political unrest continued in Southeast Asia he volunteered to join the Navy in 1969 and did two tours in Vietnam. His first appointment was as a secretary in Da Nang, and his second appointment as Head Librarian also in Da Nang. He was honorably discharged in 1972.

Returning from his second tour, Bruce enrolled at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, to pursue a degree in Psychology and Sociology. While there he joined a fraternity Pi Lambda Tau, was a member of student government and he met the love of his life, Pam Zutter (Lima, Peru.)

Bruce & Pam were married June 11, 1978 at McKendree University and moved to St. Peters, Missouri to start a new chapter in their lives. The marriage was blessed with their beloved son, Eric David Zutter Brock. Bruce had a strong belief in God and family. He enjoyed music, food and being a Mason.

Bruce is survived by his older brother David Brock, sister Mary Ellen (Brock) Rutledge of Arthur, Il. Bruce leaves behind his wife Pam Zutter Brock and his son Eric Zutter Brock of Defiance, MO., sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, Godchildren, great nieces and nephews and many friends.
