This year Jim celebrated 50 memorable years of marriage to his wife Phyllis. A story that started with a woman watching an ironworker in a green hard hat write messages to her on the steel beams of the building he was constructing and it only grew better from there.

His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. His intelligence, his stubbornness (thus the nickname "Mule"), his unstopping commitment to family, his blunt honesty (whether you wanted to hear it or not), his fierce protective nature and his no apologies given drive for life, lives on in all of us.

Jim was a proud veteran of the Army, serving in the 173rd Airborne Brigade during the Vietnam War. He was a retired Structural Ironworker with Local No. 396 and over the years left his mark on many St. Louis buildings and bridges, as well as, the NASA Vehicle Assembly Building in Florida.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and cooking. He looked forward to having family and friends over for a big BBQ and a cold beer.  And St. Pat's Day never went by without a traditional dinner and a toast with Irish whiskey.

With loving thoughts, let us remember... "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Dr. Seuss.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association. apdaparkinson.org
