Dr. Edward A. Haas passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 11
at the age of 86.
He was an exceptionally loving man who served in the Navy before devoting himself to relieving suffering through chiropractic treatment, a listening ear, and a generous heart.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Clara Haas; six children: Edward (Sheri) Haas Jr., Martin (Janis) Haas, Michael (Colleen) Haas of Salem, VA, Mary (Michael) DeSantis of Columbia, MO, Susan Zilke, and Nancy (Tony) Gamache; 22 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and May Haas, his sister Ginnie Toomey and his son John Haas.
Ed, or Doc as many called him, was an incredible example of one who spent his whole life practicing patience, kindness, integrity and the joy of laughter. After losing his eyesight and health, he overcame the temptation to despair and made his remaining years fruitful by demonstrating that caring for others and living in peace are more valuable than worldly pursuits.
