Clarence August Hugo Sehrt

Clarence August Hugo Sehrt, 89 passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at Grandview Healthcare Center, Washington, MO, with his family by his side.

Clarence, son of Arnold Sehrt and wife Olga, nee Bierbaum, was born March 6, 1930, in Femme Osage, MO. He was baptized April 6 by Rev. K. Barkau; sponsors were August Sehrt and Hugo Bierbaum. He was confirmed on April 2, 1944, by Rev. Joseph Mann in the Femme Osage Evangelical and Reformed Church, now the United Church of Christ. His memory verse was Psalm 1, verse 1 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in council of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of the scornful.” He was a member of Femme Osage United Church of Christ. After graduating from Augusta High School he worked at Mercantile Trust Co, now US Bank, for over 40 years, retiring as Vice President of Operations. He served in the Korean War and received an Honorable discharge from the Armed Forces in March 1960. On April 23, 2014 he went on the Honor Flight to Washington, D. C. and was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was married to Jeanette Thilking on October 10, 1959, at Femme Osage United Church of Christ by Rev. Karl Albers. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, Sharon (John) Locandro, Mary Sehrt, Lynn (John) Rhomberg; grandsons, Joshua, Justin, Jacob and Jason; sister-in-law, Shirley Sehrt; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brothers, Edward and Victor, and his wife’s sister, Lavern (Orville) Reinhardt. He loved working on crossword puzzles, and usually completed one or two per day. He enjoyed music and played the accordion and organ. He and his brother, Victor, played with Robbie and the Ramblers and then with Eddie Freie and His Missouri Ramblers. He was the organist at Femme Osage United Christ for over 40 years. Favorite songs he and Jeanette liked to dance to were “Look at Us” and “Could I Have This Dance (For the Rest of My Life).” Pallbearers: Ron Bierbaum, Jerry Reinhardt, Mike Beirbaum, Chris Reinhardt, Gregg Nadler, Allen Naughton.


Visitation: Friday, December 27, 2019, 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm, at Pitman Funeral Home, 5542 Walnut Street, Augusta, Missouri 63332. Service: Saturday, December 28, 2019
