      Recently, a request for rezoning was submitted to the St. Charles County Planning and Zoning Commission to develop an approximate 600-home subdivision near Frontier Middle School on Highway DD to Schwede Road. In this request, the property is being rezoned from Agricultural District to R1A (1-acre minimum lot size) and R1E Residential District (7,000 square feet minimum lot size).

      The New Melle Chamber of Commerce awarded four $2000 scholarships to area students this year at their annual scholarship banquet May 18 at The Quarry Wine Garden.

    • The 9th Annual Kickin’ It For Cancer Kickball Tournament

      June 01, 2023 The 2023 New Melle Festival Queen Candidates hosted the 9th Annual Kickin' it for Cancer Kickball Tournament on Friday, May 12 and was again a tremendous success.

      It was a beautiful night for kickball, and twelve teams registered and came out to play to support the cause. The teams were: 2 Legit 2 Kick, Balls of Fury, Booze on First, Burbes, Catala & Red Beauty, Elite Alcoholics, Freeballers, Homefront Homies, Kickin' It, Shadow Wizard Money Gang, The Blue Balls, and The Lenders.

Mr. Benjamin Matthew Engemann of Marthasville, MO, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021. He was born August 11, 1999, in Washington, MO, to Kevin (Henry) Joseph and Lee Clara (Nee: Evans) Engemann. He was 22 years old.

Ben graduated from Washington High School in 2018. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his buddies. He was very generous and would do anything to help his friends and family. Ben holds a special place in the hearts of all who know him. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. 

Ben was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kenneth Engemann, Thomas Evans, Robert Schuetz; and one uncle, William Christian Evans. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Lee; siblings, Jake Engemann, Lizzie Engemann, and Kyla Engemann; one niece Chevy Engemann; grandmothers, Dolores Evans, Janet Schuetz, and Ruth Marschel; loving aunts and uncles, Mark Evans (Lee), Dan Evans (Tracy), Lynn Breuer (Bill), Annie Orf (Bruce), John Evans (Karrie), Matt Evans, LaVon Lamke (Lester), Michael Engemann, Kenneth “Fred” Engemann Jr. (Sheena Norman); many cousins, friends, and family. 

We will have a Celebration of Life for Ben on Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Marthasville, MO. The funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery north of Perry, MO. We will meet in the parking lot of The Junction Restaurant in Perry, MO at 1:45 and leave promptly for the cemetery at 2:00 PM in procession.
