The New Melle Fire Protection District (NMFPD) presents the Pumpkin People Contest this fall, open to all businesses and residents within the district. Get creative this Halloween and design a display in front of your business or home. Your display should represent your business or family, and pumpkins must be used as the head(s) in the display.

Friedens Peace UCC in New Melle Closing After 120 Years on Oct. 8

After long and prayerful consideration, the small group of active members of Friedens Peace UCC in New Melle has come to the sad realization they can no longer continue as a congregation and run the church. The attendance has dipped below double digits each Sunday, and as a result, there are not enough members attending to do the church's work.

St. Paul’s UCC Defiance Chicken Dinner September 24



On Sunday, September 24, St. Paul’s UCC, 150 Defiance Rd, is hosting its annual chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Inside seating and drive-thru is available.

Oktoberfest & Kinderfest Oct. 15 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Melle


On Sunday, October 15, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Melle is hosting its Oktoberfest from 12 to 6 p.m. The Oktoberfest will include live music by Anthony Russo and Oktoberfest beer will be served by Good News Brewing. There will also be a country market, history tours, St. Paul’s famous sausage and the list goes on.

ICC in Augusta 62nd Turkey, Dressing & Ham Dinner October 1


Immaculate Conception Church (ICC), 5912 Hwy 94 S (at Hwy T) in Augusta, is hosting its 62nd Turkey, Dressing and Ham Dinner on Sunday, October 1, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The dinner will feature turkey and ham, with homemade dressing, desserts, apple butter and special cranberry relish. Carryouts are available. The cost is adults $15 and children 6 to 12 $5.
