Defiance Ridge Vineyards Ribbon Cutting July 21

Defiance Ridge Vineyards is excited to announce the unveiling of their new wine production facility on Saturday, July 21st, 2018.

The celebration starts with a ribbon cutting, wine and cheese tasting, and tour of the production area at 6 p.m. From there, the festivities will continue in the pavilion with dinner featuring “Farm to Table” items from their summer menu and a showing of the movie, SOMM— a humorous, emotional and illuminating look into the mysterious Court of Master Sommeliers.
Since purchasing the property formerly known as Wine Country Gardens last fall, the Gillentine family, (Chuck, Cindy and Trevor) have envisioned turning the facility into a working winery with onsite vineyards, grape production and winemaking.

The first step in implementing their vision was renovating the tasting room—a project that was completed earlier this Spring. The tasting room incorporates “modern farmhouse” design and features a new main entrance, tasting bar, display cabinetry and furnishings.
Another step in the journey has been expanding the farm-to-table focus of the menu. Chef Lucas Olson and Sous Chef Will White combine their unique talents and creativity when preparing fresh offerings for guests’ enjoyment. The menu features delicious seasonal artisan appetizers, craft sandwiches, small plate offerings, soups, salads and desserts, with emphasis on locally sourced seasonal fresh produce including items from the on-site vegetable garden.

With the completion of this latest milestone, the new production facility, Defiance Ridge Vineyards will be bottling not only locally produced grapes/juice, but also West Coast products under their own private label. Wine Club members who attend the Winery Ribbon Cutting on July 21st will have an opportunity to take home their first quarterly 4-bottle pickup as well as their choice of a Defiance Ridge t-shirt or hat.

Throughout each month, Defiance Ridge Vineyards offers a number of special events, which include Friday Night casual Farm to Table suppers, a Bubble Brunch each Sunday, plus Yoga in the Vineyard and a local Wine Country Market on select Sundays. Additional special events vary from month to month. In July there will be “Red, White and Que” on July 3rd, Independence Day Celebration July 4th, and “National Fried Chicken Day” on July 6th. Live music is available every Saturday and Sunday.

The grounds at Defiance Ridge Vineyards feature a tranquil lake, lush garden landscaping and a beautiful view overlooking the on-site vineyard.  Besides the newly remodeled tasting room, the large, adjacent year-round pavilion provides additional seating for up to 300. Outdoor seating is available on the terraces and veranda surrounding the Historic Farm House. A new bridal suite is now available, and a full catering menu is available for large or small weddings/special events.

The whole experience at Defiance Ridge Vineyards reflects the combined passions of wine, farm to table cuisine, music, relaxation, and warm hospitality that draw visitors to Missouri’s Wine Country.
