New Melle Country Christmas Celebration Nov. 30

The New Melle Chamber of Commerce and New Melle Sports and Recreation (NMSR) have teamed up once again to present a wonderful, free, community holiday event, “New Melle Country Christmas” on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

The event will be held at NMSR starting at 4 p.m. and will feature family-friendly activities that are free to the public. Visit with Santa (who arrives by firetruck at 5 p.m.), write and/or mail letters to Santa, decorate a holiday cookie, roast s’mores at the fire pits, sing along with the community choir, enjoy a juggler, a magician, plus complimentary food and beverages sponsored by area businesses and organizations, goody bags, attendance prizes, and more. The gorgeous Norfolk Pine tree, obtained via grant money from Cuivre River Electric and labor and expertise from Frisella Nursery, Wind Ridge Farm and others, will be lit at 5:30 p.m.

As in the past, there will be a collection for “Teddy Bears for Trevor.” Please bring a new Teddy Bear to be given to hospitalized children at Christmas.

Each child attending will receive a numbered goody bag. Numbers on the bag determine the order in which they visit Santa. This will allow families to participate in more activities and shorten photo wait time.

Volunteers are needed to help set up, clean up, sing in the choir, and/or sponsor an activity or food and refreshments. Set up starts at 9 am. Friday and noon on Saturday.
