After long and prayerful consideration, the small group of active members of Friedens Peace UCC in New Melle has come to the sad realization they can no longer continue as a congregation and run the church. The attendance has dipped below double digits each Sunday, and as a result, there are not enough members attending to do the church's work.

Friedens Peace UCC at 3560 Mill St. has served the New Melle Community for over 120 years and will, unfortunately, close on October 8, 2023. They will mark the occasion with a service of celebration at 11 a.m. followed by a meal provided by the church. The community is invited to attend and join in the fellowship of sharing memories of the church.
