Defiance Couple Opens Marco’s Pizza - Grand Opening July 1

Barb and Chris Andren, long time residents of the Defiance/New Melle area, have opened a Marco’s Pizza franchise at 1000 Quartz Canyon Drive, along Hwy. Z in the Wentzville Bluffs retail center near I-70. Marco’s Pizza, the fastest growing pizza company in the United States, is known for its fresh ingredients, secret sauce recipe and dough made in-store daily.

A Grand Opening Celebration is planned for Sunday, July 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will offer free pizza to the public, a raffle for free pizza for a year, a live DJ and a bounce house for the kids.

The Andrens have lived in Defiance for over 20 years. The pair met almost 30 years ago at a Chicago suburban restaurant where Barb worked as the salad and dessert girl while Chris worked in the kitchen preparing food. Chris thought about going to culinary school but opted for analytical chemistry instead. But his love of cooking drew him back to the restaurant business where he’s starting a second career with Marco’s Pizza. 

For the past two decades, the Andrens have been active volunteers at the schools attended by their three boys, as well as the Boy Scouts of America (Troop 856 in New Melle.) They are members of the Western St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce and their new restaurant is expected to provide up to 25 new jobs in the community.
