“Fields of Dreams” Kids’ Best of Augusta Photo Contest Winners

Submitted by Gay Eskew

“Fields of Dreams!” Each of the winning entries in the latest Kids’ Best of Augusta Photo Contest winners were pictures of fields. Congratulations on their winning photographs, Ryker N. of Marthasville, Wesley B. of Augusta, and Maddox B. of Augusta. Each winner was awarded a cash prize from the Augusta Town Board.
These three had their dreams of winning come true.

Thank you to each of the twenty kids, 12 and under, who submitted entries. All of their photos are on display at Augusta Elementary School. The display will then travel to the Augusta Library. Each photo consists of a unique perspective based on each photographer’s viewpoint.

One of the objectives of the KIDS’ “BEST OF AUGUSTA” PHOTO CONTEST is to encourage students to use their artistic creativity in photography. Perhaps an Augusta “kid” will grow up to have their work displayed around Town. All kids 12 & under in the Augusta community and beyond can enter the photo contest. Maybe someone will discover that they have a talent for taking photos.

The Augusta Elementary art teacher, Mrs. Sarah Bayless, teaches a photography unit in her classes. The students take photos in the Town of Augusta on a school “walking field trip.” Students then choose, if they'd like, to submit a picture for the photo contest. Other students at Augusta Elementary and other educational venues also submitted photos of various subjects around town.

As we head into 2024, we are looking at new and fresh ideas to promote the Town of Augusta. Visit the “Town of Augusta, MO” website in the new year, www.townofaugustamo.org. We will also continue offering photography tips for all ages.

The goal is to improve the quality (composition, clarity, and creativity) of photographs submitted. In 2024, all photos must be taken within the Town limits of Augusta to qualify for judging. Start now to investigate possible photo ops!
