Known & Grown STL Mini-Grants for Local Farmers Deadline Feb. 28

As part of its work to build a resilient, equitable food community, the Missouri Coalition for the Environment has developed Known & Grown STL. This initiative supports and promotes farmers within 150 miles of St. Louis who practice humane, chemical-free farming and demonstrate environmental stewardship.
Known & Grown STL is awarding up to 10 mini-grants of up to $1,000 each to farmers in Gasconade, Franklin, St. Charles, and Warren counties for projects that develop or improve environmental stewardship practices on their farms. Projects that protect and preserve the quality of the soil, air, and water, promote biodiversity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. These grants aim to improve our food system by supporting sustainable farming practices that provide healthy, nutrient-dense food to Missourians. Technical assistance is available in addition to the financial award.

The grant application is open to non-profit and for-profit farmers who farm within Gasconade, Franklin, St. Charles, and Warren counties. Proposals should include:
• Contact info – phone and email.
• Physical farm address.
• Name and a brief description of your farm.
• Where do you sell your products, and who are your customers.
• Description of the proposed project, including an estimated timeline for implementation.
• Proposed budget (labor to complete the project may be included.)
• Explain how your project will benefit the environment and your community.

Financial awards are given before the start of the project, but are dependent on the completion of the project. Proposals must be submitted by Wednesday, February 28, 2024, and emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Awardees will be selected on Friday, March 15, 2024, and projects should be completed by December 31, 2024.  Visit knownandgrownstl.org for details. These grants are being generously funded by Magnificent Missouri.
