Update On Tall Tree Farm Development

Submitted by Citizens for Smart Grown in St. Charles County

As of February 25, 2024, Lombardo Homes and the City of O'Fallon have entered into informal discussions on the Tall Tree Farm Development.

Lombardo's Proposal & Development design plans are unclear and have not been presented formally to the O'Fallon Planning and Zoning or the City at this time.

Citizens For Smart Growth in St. Charles County (CSGSCC) has clearly communicated to both Lombardo Homes and the City of O'Fallon the expectations that this new Tall Tree Farm (TTF) proposal should follow. There are seven principles that must be implemented to reduce the negative impacts on local residents, taxpayers, and the community as a whole. To view those principles, click here.

Please communicate your stance/beliefs on Tall Tree Farm directly to the following O'Fallon Reps from Ward #3:

The City of O’Fallon’s Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the O'Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall). The pre-meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. To view the agendas for the upcoming P&Z and City Council Meetings, click the following link, www.ofallon.mo.us/meeting-agendas.

If you are unfamiliar with Citizens for Smart Growth in St. Charles County (CSGSCC), they represent thousands of residents within our local community. The group seeks to ensure development is consistent with the surrounding land uses and the rural value of our community.  To ensure compliance with formal community development plans of both St. Charles County and surrounding municipalities.

CSGSCC is not opposed to the development of this area but objects to developments that don’t respect the rural nature of the area and make a mockery of established community development strategies and requirements.

Our organization is focused on:

(1) ensuring public awareness of and engagement in proposed development projects.

(2) coordination with local government officials and developers to ensure our objectives and inputs are considered, and

(3) developing the legal and financial resources required to litigate against adverse projects if required

Thanks to community support to oppose high-density development along Highway DD, our efforts helped St. Charles County Council unanimously reject the Tall Tree Farm Development in August 2023. The Citizens for Smart Growth in St. Charles County, LLC has a similar plan to fight any proposed annexation efforts the developer may take with O'Fallon.

If you would like to help:

  1. **Stay Vigilant & Be Vocal:** As O'Fallon City evaluates annexation on the Tall Tree Hwy DD Development and other ill-proposed projects that threaten rural St. Charles County, communicate your opposition to city officials and the Planning & Zoning Commission. Show up to City & Planning and Zoning monthly meetings.
  2. **Spread the Word:**   - Encourage friends, neighbors, and your HOA to join the cause and this group.
  3. **Volunteer:**   - Become a neighborhood representative by reaching out through the website.
  4. **Financial Contributions:**   - Fundraising efforts are needed to cover legal expenses incurred to date and those needed for a potential legal challenge to annexation.

With your support, we can ensure this western portion of St. Charles County remains rural and preserves the area we all love. Please consider donating to show your support and help    the critical legal battle against ill-designed projects & annexations by contributing:
