This part of the building, which originally served as a one-room schoolhouse in the 1930s and was later divided into two rooms, has been the church's office for many years. The church had outgrown the space, and the old offices were in need of a remodel. Pastor Maxx Fisher expressed his gratitude to Scott Alexander and Terry Bethel, two church members who were the architects, carpenters, and laborers behind the remodel. Janie Fisher was responsible for the interior decoration. The electrical, HVAC, and computer systems were also updated. They did a fantastic job of blending a modern touch with an “old school” feel, creating a warm, inviting, and comfortable space.
Pastor Maxx stated that the ribbon-cutting was held to celebrate the church's 180 years of service in Jesus' name and to demonstrate their commitment to continuing to serve the New Melle area for hopefully another 180 years.
Carla Brakensiek and Sarah Hayek, NMCC co-presidents, congratulated Pastor Maxx and the congregation on the new office space. They expressed the Chamber’s and the community's appreciation for all St. Paul’s contributions to the area.

Tom Bethel (L) and Scott Alexander (R) (with scissors) cut the ribbon at the St. Paul's Lutheran
Church Remodel along with NMCC, congregation and community members.
