The club always looks forward to attending both the Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day parades held in Defiance. “I like being in the community and handing out candy to all the kids,” said Aiden Lyons, Boone Country 4-H member.

Some 4-Hers were busy tending to their new lambs, chicks, calves, goats, and piglets, making it difficult for everyone to attend the St. Patrick's Day festivities. These students are already working hard to prep pens and coops and work with their project animals for the fair.
From March through May, livestock meetings and weigh-ins are held by the St. Charles County Extension at the St. Charles County Fairgrounds. For spring weigh-ins, 4-Hers haul their new animals to the fairgrounds to have them weighed and tagged. Livestock will see the scales again when they arrive at the St. Charles County Fair, held July 23-27th at Rotary Park in Wentzville, MO. From now until the end of July, 4-Hers will be busy with animal projects to feed, care, and train them in preparation for judging day.
Along with animals, members are working on projects ranging from raising vegetables in the garden to snapping photographs to even building wooden furniture! All these great projects will be displayed at the Kolb building during the St. Charles County Fair. Be sure to check them out.
While the fair is fun for many, it is a LOT of work for 4-Hers and their families. Projects teach members skills to use in life and their future careers. If you see a 4-Her, ask them about their projects. Our members are proud of their hard work and happy to tell you about what they learn.
