70% Tax Credits Available for Qualifying Donations to Bethel Hills Community

Submitted by Boonslick Regional Planning Commission

A year ago, the Department of Economic Development (DED) announced it had awarded Bethel Hills 70% tax credits through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). These state tax credits are available to eligible and qualifying donors who can redirect their tax dollars in support of an approved NAP project.
Bethel Hills project budget of $430,053 allows them to offer $301,037 in 70% tax credits to qualified donations from individuals and businesses. The project allows the organization to pave more than 13,000 square yards of roadways, driveways, and sidewalks located at their location in Marthasville. Board President, Billie Kramme stated, “in order for this community to be fully accessible, we need paved roads and sidewalks to access homes, the chapel, and the gymnasium, and to install ADA doors and handrails.”

Bethel Hills' mission is to provide supportive housing, social activities, and other opportunities for adults with and without disabilities that enable them to live, learn, and celebrate community together. Their vision is a welcoming and supportive community where all adults have the opportunity to live life to the fullest.

Kramme stated, “Boonslick Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) has been key in the success of achieving these NAP tax credits. Linda Buschman has worked with us throughout the application process and is serving as the project coordinator. We’re grateful for her accessibility and her understanding of our mission.”
"When I first began working with Bethel Hills on their project idea, I was immediately struck by the caring and compassion shown to the community's residents by the staff, board, and volunteers. It was evident that the property needed to be fully accessible to everyone. BRPC is pleased to be a part of this project, which will allow them to meet that need for many years to come,” said Buschman.

The project is well underway, but donations are still needed to raise the full $430,053 and complete the project. Tax credits are available on a first-come, first-served basis until they are all taken. Potential donors are encouraged to contact their tax advisor to determine how a tax credit may benefit them; both for the year of the gift and for subsequent tax years.
