Hunt for Hunger Kicks Off 2024 Season

Deer season is fast approaching, and the Hunt for Hunger Program is preparing for another successful year. For the past 7 years, David Neier, a junior at Francis Howell High School, has worked to broaden the awareness and distribution of venison throughout western St. Charles County food pantries.
IMG_7463.jpgThis was made possible by working in cooperation with Share the Harvest and Operation Food Search of St. Charles. After processing, the venison is distributed to a growing number of local food pantries in our area. Pantries that have never received venison before are truly grateful to be able to share this with the families in their communities who are struggling.

Thanks to the generous support of Share the Harvest and the hard work of the participating processors and our local hunters, Hunt for Hunger has been able to deliver over 40,000 pounds of venison over the past eight years! Unfortunately, the need is great. Several pantries are seeing a record number of families coming in for help. One local pantry is feeding 60 families per week, and the number is still growing. Over 11,000 individuals are receiving help each month.

The goal for Hunt For Hunger is 5,000 pounds this year. To help reach this goal, Wright City Meat Processing is joining the effort and expanding the effort into Warren County.

Please help David and The Hunt for Hunger Program hit their target by contacting one of the processors to get additional information on how to donate your field-dressed deer: Wright City Meat – 363 E. N. Service Rd, Wright City MO 636-745-3331 or Josephville Meat Market – 1363 Josephville Road, Wentzville, MO 636-327-5455. Good luck with your “Hunt for Hunger”.
