Success scores, once again, for the three 2024 competitions in the “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest. Photograph quality is improving, according to our judges and others who assist in the picture-taking process.
Looking forward, in 2025, the very popular Kids 12 & Under “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest will take place in October. An adult/teen or all-ages contest is under consideration for the spring and possibly the fall.
You can view contest information on the townofaugustamo.org website under the "Photo Contest" tab. The Boone Country Connection publishes articles monthly with photo contest updates, current winning photos, and photography tips.
Here’s a recap of the stats since the beginning of the photo contest in 2014. Entering the 12th year of the “Best of Augusta" Photo Contest, we are continuing to move forward with new ideas. There have been 33 contests so far in 11 years. Starting out with quarterly contests, it dropped to 1 per year during COVID. This averages out to 3 per year, which is our current number of yearly competitions.
Numerous photos of all types enter the competitions. The Kids’ 12 & under contests average around 30 participants. The adult/teen/all ages vary from two or three to twelve entries. Thank you to everyone who submitted photographs, either once or for multiple contests.
The Augusta Town Board sponsors the “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest. In recent years, they have contributed three cash prizes to the Kids’ 12 & Under Photo Contest. A total of 18 businesses and organizations awarded 73 donations. Augusta Winery is the top donor, providing quality prizes for 8 of the 11 years.
Stoneledge Antiques is next, with seven and Halcyon Spa, with five, is third. Thank you to each of the top three and to others who donated prizes since 2014.
Looking forward to a new surge of interest in Augusta photography. Will you be a part?
