By Kathy Miller - On Thursday, October 30, the New Melle Chamber of Commerce (NMCC) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Quarry to welcome new owners Matt Meier and Rob Roddy to both the chamber and the community.
Family, friends, fellow chamber members, local business owners, and numerous patrons gathered to celebrate Matt and Rob’s new ownership.Guests enjoyed the new menu, table service, drinks, and each other’s company at The Twisted Barrel, The Quarry’s restaurant.
Matt and Rob took ownership of The Quarry in late September and have been steadily enhancing the venue, service, and menu. Both owners are involved in daily operations and work closely with their team. When you visit, take a moment to introduce yourself and share your feedback—Matt and Rob genuinely value your opinion. If you have concerns, they welcome the opportunity to address them in person.
The Quarry is their first business venture together—and the first venue for each. Rob discovered the property and instantly saw its potential and hoped Matt would agree. He did, and both were amazed that The Quarry was less than 15 minutes from each of their homes.

in welcoming the new owners to New Melle.
Committed to giving back to New Melle and the surrounding communities, the new owners donated $1,000 from proceeds from the ribbon-cutting event to the Trevor Joerling Scholarship Fund through Peoples Savings Bank. They have joined the chamber and plan to participate in and sponsor chamber events, including the upcoming New Melle Country Christmas. This holiday season, they will adopt local families in need and have plans to continue supporting other local causes. Stay tuned for details.
Rob and Matt are working with local businesses on property improvements and bids for upcoming projects. The New Melle Baking Company will supply baked goods for The Twisted Barrel’s menu. While no significant changes to the existing building are planned, necessary repairs and enhancements are underway, and attention will soon turn to the grounds.
