Good News That Could Lower Insurance Cost For NMFPD Residents

The New Melle Fire Protection District (NMFPD) is proud to announce it has improved its ISO Public Protection Classification from Class 5/5Y to Class 4/4X.
What does this mean for NMFPD residents? The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) evaluates a community’s fire protection capabilities. The lower the number, the better the protection. Many insurance carriers use ISO ratings when setting premiums, so this improvement could help lower your homeowners’ insurance, depending on your carrier and policy.

Contact your insurance agent or company and inform them that the new PPC rating is Class 4/4X. If they need a copy of the PPC rating change, visit newmellefire.org, click the “Residents” tab, and find the ISO rating link.

This improvement to the PPC rating is due to several factors. The firefighters, the Board, and community support for bond and tax increases, which helped fund the construction or remodeling of new stations, training and safety equipment, upgrades to water supply infrastructure, and shorter response times—these contributed to this progress. As future upgrades and improvements occur, the District aims to continue lowering its PPC rating.
