Women Legislators of Missouri Announce Scholarship Opportunity for Young Women

The Women Legislators of Missouri (WLM) Caucus, a bipartisan group of women House and Senate members, has announced its annual education scholarship program for female high school seniors.

The WLM scholarship program was established to support the higher education goals of female high school seniors. Each year, the program awards $1,000 scholarships to female seniors to offset their college and post-secondary education costs.

“As female elected leaders, it’s our goal to help young women pursue their career goals and expand their leadership skills,” said Senator Maggie Nurrenburn, District 17. Women serving in the Missouri House and Senate partner to raise money for the scholarships and honor the recipients at a recognition ceremony in the Missouri Capitol.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for young women to earn a scholarship and meet women leaders and legislators from across the state at our annual award ceremony at the Capitol,” said Senator Maggie Nurrenbern, D-Kansas City.

The application period is now open through March 23, 2026. The link to the application is available at My Scholarship Central, myscholarshipcentral.org.

Applicants must be female, a Missouri high school senior, a U.S. citizen, and set to graduate from a public or private high school or homeschool in 2026.

Applicants will submit a 500-word essay and a biography that highlights academic, leadership, or community service experiences.

This scholarship program helps bring attention to enterprising and community-involved young women across our state and connects them to legislative leaders from their districts and beyond.
