The market is driven by two local residents: Board President Geries Shaheen and Market Manager and board member Leslie Limberg. This nonprofit community initiative supports local farmers, food producers, and artisans, providing a welcoming gathering spot for neighbors. Vendors are required to sell products they grow, raise, produce, or craft to ensure an authentic local market experience.
The market takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s New Melle Campus, located at 150 W. Hwy D. The lot provides ample space for vendors and parking for visitors.
Sharon Duggan of the New Melle Chamber of Commerce congratulated the market on its opening and membership. The market’s return enhances the community, especially given the many local farmers and artisans among its members and residents, who offer a diverse range of products.
Geries and Leslie expressed gratitude to the NMCC and to everyone who attended the grand opening. They also thanked Immanuel Lutheran Church for hosting the market each Saturday and the band Typical Suspects for entertaining the crowd.
As a nonprofit managed by volunteers and its board, the market welcomes donations and volunteer support from the community and Chamber members. The vendor list is expanding, and as a reminder, interested individuals must sell items they grow, raise, produce, or craft. Vendor spaces are $20 for adults, with discounted rates for children and nonprofits.
The New Melle Farmers Market invites you to visit every week as it continues to expand.
