The chamber treated the recipients and their families to dinner during the ceremony.
The deserving students were:
Parker Williams of Wentzville attends St. Charles Community College, will attend the University of Missouri - Columbia next year to earn his Master's in Accounting, and plans to attend law school.
Ella Coulter of Wentzville is a sophomore at Kansas State University and will continue her education there in Animal Science. She plans to become a Veterinarian.
Logan Humphrey of Wentzville graduated from Francis Howell High School and plans to attend State Tech in Linn, focusing on Electrical Engineering.
David Neier of Wentzville graduated from Francis Howell this year and plans to attend St. Charles Community College, majoring in Agriculture. David expects to continue his education at the University of Missouri-Columbia in Agriculture and Wildlife Management.
The crowd and their families gave the students a standing ovation for their hard work and dedication to their education and their futures.
Julia Welge, the NMCC President, congratulated the recipients and was happy to see such a diverse range of educational backgrounds. She was proud of and inspired by the applications from these students and from everyone in our community who applied. She looks forward to seeing them return to our community after they graduate and put their education to work.
The money for the scholarships is raised each year at the New Melle Chamber of Commerce and New Melle Sports and Rec Joint Golf Tournament. The proceeds are split, and the chamber uses its portion to fund the scholarships each year. Stay tuned for details on the upcoming tournament.
The NMCC Board appreciates everyone who applied this year, as the decision process was quite challenging due to the number of deserving applicants.
