On May 2, during the final day of the Augusta Plein Air Art Festival, the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce (GACC) awarded three $1,000 scholarships to area students. Each year, the GACC usually awards two scholarships. There were several deserving applicants this year, and thanks to Sunflower Hill Farms, three scholarships were awarded. The GACC funds the scholarships using a portion of the proceeds from the Augusta Plein Air Art Festival.
This year's recipients were Grace Gargrave, Clara Nowak and Hailey Struckhoff. Grace Gargrave plans to attend the University of Chicago to study biology, participate in research and work toward becoming a physician. Hailey Struckhoff is studying for a career in accounting. Clara Nowak plans to enter the health field and become a dentist.
The scholarship committee congratulated the winners and wished them success in all their future endeavors.
