Washington School District Closed Thursday, March 8, Employee in Custody


An incident involving a maintenance worker from the Washington School District in Washington, Missouri, prompted officials to call off school and all after school activities on Thursday, March 8.
The school district posted the following statement on their website early Thursday morning: "We regret to inform you that the School District of Washington will be closed today (March 8) due to a situation that is currently being investigated by the Washington Police Department. Although there isn't any threat to our schools, more time is needed to analyze this concern."  A subsequent post on the school district website announced that all after school activities would be cancelled as well.

At 12 noon on Thursday, The Washington Missourian newspaper posted an update on their website, stating a man from Union, MO had been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, found while investigating an incident that involved flourishing a gun in O'Fallon, MO early Thursday morning.
