A group of community-minded individuals is working to reenergize the New Melle Festival Parade this year. The parade will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 11 a.m.
It will follow the same route as previous years: Daniel Boone Elementary to NMSR (Hwy. D to Almeling Street to Mill St. to Hwy. Z.) Area businesses and organizations are invited to participate purely in the spirit of friendly competition and comradery, however, there are some additional incentives.
• For a sponsorship donation of $50 or more (no float), businesses will be advertised all year long on a New Melle Festival Parade Sponsors Banner.
• Businesses/organizations that enter a float and pay a $25 entry fee will also be advertised all year on the Parade Sponsors Banner.
• Free parade entries will also be accepted.
Floats from non-profit organizations will compete against each other, winning the cash provided by the above sponsors and entree fees.
The winning business/float will win advertising on a large banner at NMSR, free, for one year (a minimum $250 value) plus an ad on the NMSR website (a $500 value.)
In order to be honored on the sponsors banner, NMSR will need payment, by May 1st, and logos by May 15th. Floats can be entered up until the week of the parade. A parade entry form can be filled out at www.nmsr.com.
Committee members include: Maureen Blondin, Steve and Julie Burt, Carla Skouby-Brakensiek, Julia Welge, Diane Saale, Adam Stevener, Doug Karrenbrock, Jackie Kops, Janet Karrenbrock, Kyle Shell. Please help make this the best New Melle Festival Parade ever! For more information, call 636-828-5158.
