Volunteer Now for New Melle Country Christmas - Set up, Parking, Misc.

New Melle’s Country Christmas will be Saturday, November 24, at NMSR (New Melle Sports and Recreation) starting at 4:00 p.m. The planning committee is hard at work and could use a little help. We are currently looking for businesses and organizations to provide some of the food, refreshments, and activities. We also need general volunteers to help with various tasks, including set up and clean up.

This event will feature family-friendly activities that are free to the public. Visit with Santa (who will arrive at 5:30 by Fire Truck,) write and/or mail a letter to Santa, roast s’mores with the firefighters, sing along with the community choir, enjoy a balloon artist, juggler, stilt man and magician, kids games, cookie and ornament decorating, food, beverages, and more! We will also be collecting Teddy Bears for Trevor (to be given to hospitalized children at Christmas.)

Mark your calendars now and plan to share in the holiday cheer!

NOTE: If you have participated in the past with a tent or booth or other donation, and plan to do so again this year, please let us know that as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Do you love to decorate for the Holidays, help your local community, and want to contribute in a meaningful way? Consider joining us and have fun while you’re at it! (This could be a good opportunity for young people who need service hours or a great “give back to the community” project for a family or organization.)

Needs not yet met:

  •  Tent and table set up: 4 men needed (Saturday morning)
  •  Volunteers to set fire pits, blow leaves, string lights around grounds (Saturday morning)
  •  Parking lot attendants (6 needed) during the event
  •  Cookie decorating booth - a few people to help during the event
  •  Stuff registration bags (can be done in advance)
