The Defiance Merchant’s Association will host their Ninth Annual Christmas/Pet Parade and Holiday Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018. The festival will kick off with a Dashing through Defiance 5K run/walk at 9 a.m.
From 8 a.m to noon there will be coffee and doughnuts at Robin’s Nest on the Katy Trail. From 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. there will be a Breakfast Buffet at Defiance Road House. The Francis Howell Choir will be singing from 11 to 11:45 a.m. next to the Defiance Roadhouse.
From 12 to 2 enjoy a traditional chili and soup dinner, and bake sale at St. Paul’s UCC.
From 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Wine Country Christmas Market will be in the big tent at Robin’s Nest - featuring craft vendors plus wine, food, vodka, etc. tastings from various Defiance businesses.
The parade begins at 12 noon at Defiance Ridge Vineyards, and will proceed west along Hwy. 94 to Defiance Road. The parade Emcee will be John Pertzborn of Fox2News at the Defiance Road House. Grand Marshall will be “Mayor” John Lacy.
In the parade, $100 prizes (sponsored by the following businesses) will be awarded for: the best car (Distillery of Defiance), best float (Ferguson Financial Group), best dog (Victoria Homes), best horse (Robin’s Nest on the Katy Trail), best dog/owner festive ensemble (Defiance Ridge Vineyards), and best horse/owner festive ensemble (Sugar Creek Vineyards and Winery.) There will be a $5 donation to participate – collected at the parade. All proceeds will go to the Augusta Volunteer Fire Dept.
From 12:30 to 3 p.m. visit Santa’s work shop at Robin’s Nest on the Katy Trail (photos with Santa after the parade.) Throughout the day the merchants of the Defiance area invite you to join them for refreshments and/or special holiday activities.
