The Defiance Christmas Parade had a great turn out of participants and spectators this year, enjoying the unusual 60+ degree weather! Over 40 animals, 30 cars, trucks, tractors, golf carts and other vehicles, and about 10 floats participated in the parade.
Winners are identified in the photo captions. Prize sponsors were: Best Float – Ferguson Financial Group; Best dog – Victoria Homes/Victoria Meder; Best Dog/Owner Ensemble – Defiance Ridge Vineyards; Best Car – Judgment Tree Vodka; Best Horse – Robin’s Nest on the Katy Trail; Best Horse Ensemble – Sugar Creek Vineyards & Winery.
The parade Grand Marshall was John Lacy, driven in a 2019 Rolls Royce convertible compliments of St. Louis Motorcars, Chesterfield.
The day kicked off with a 5K run, sponsored by Historic MO Wine Country, Trish’s Dish’s, Defiance Road House, Sunflower Hill Farm and Peoples Savings Bank. It ended with an evening filled with food and beverage tastings from local vendors under a big tent behind Robin’s Nest, sponsored by Todd and Robin White.
Other activities included breakfast at the Defiance Road House, lunch at St. Paul’s UCC Church, pictures with Santa, live music by Rocket Rick, activities for kids, a Christmas Market with beautiful handcrafted gifts, a book signing by local author Tricia L. Sanders; food and beverages, from Judgement Tree Vodka, Good News Brewing Co. and The Hotdog Man, & more. There were also special activities at Frisella’s Nursery, Sugar Creek Winery, Sunflower Hill Farm and Defiance Ridge Vineyards. John Pertzborn, with Fox2News, was the special guest M.C. for the parade.
The Defiance Merchants Association thanks all the volunteers and sponsors, plus everyone who participated in the parade, and all who attended the event, for making it a very successful day!

This year’s parade was dedicated to the memory of Tom Shaw, Sr. Several of his family members carried a banner made by the Defiance Merchants Assoc. in his honor.
