It has been my blessing to be part of the New Melle Community for almost seven years now, and getting to know my neighbors has been tremendous.
I have kept a number of you in my prayers as I have heard about illness, injury, deaths in your family, or other difficulties; and prayed that you might know God’s presence and peace. During the Advent season, I offer extra hours in the Confessional for members of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish, not that people are more sinful this time of year, but so that there are more opportunities to prepare to welcome Jesus this coming Christmas. While I cannot celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) with you, I want to extend the an invitation to anyone who would like to talk or pray about anything whatsoever. I will be available in the Confessional (no longer a “box”) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during Advent from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
There will be some evenings I am not available because of schedule conflicts. I will post on the doors to church the next available time to visit. The holidays can be a time of abundant joy or extreme sorrow. I am not out to make you Catholic, but just seek to know you better and love you more as a neighbor. You are more than welcome just to come by and talk. Take 5 minutes or 50, I am here to listen, pray, share scripture and visit with you about whatever you would like, strengthening the bonds of our community that are so vital.
If you are unfamiliar with the church, the Confessional is located just inside the church to the right of the baptismal font.
Have a Blessed Advent and Christmas,
Fr. Tom Miller - Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, New Melle
