The Art of Silent Film in Defiance Mar. 22 - Benefiting Fire Dept.

Enjoy an evening of silent movies, cartoons and newsreels from the 1920’s and early 1930’s. The Art of Silent Film will be presented Friday, March 22, from 7-9 p.m. at Robin’s Nest on the Katy Trail, 2998 South Highway 94, in Defiance.

The show, which mostly features the work of the legendary Buster Keaton, is a collaboration between Paul Ovaitt of paulosmallband, Hannah Grey and Robin White. Paul and Hannah will provide a live musical score with guitar, vocals, percussion and sound effects. Paul will also offer insights into the various films. The presentation is anything but a period piece.  Expect to hear Beyonce, sea shanties, Otis Redding, Pat Benatar, Buck Owens, Rihanna and original compositions. This will be the 4th presentation of the show which was performed twice at the Haynes Gallery in Washington, MO and once at 33 & Burning Tree in Augusta. But it is never the same show twice due to the spontaneous improvisation from Paul and Hannah.

A donation of $12 is suggested, with 20% of that going to the Defiance/Augusta Fire Department.

Seating is limited, so it is advisable to make reservations at or call Robin at 314-223-3423.
