The Community and Children’s Resource Board annually coordinates the Shower of Love baby care collection drive in St. Charles County in May. Each year dozens of schools, churches, civic groups, and businesses collect donations during the month of April for babies and families in need of diapers, wipes, and other baby care essentials.
The drive culminates on Thursday, May 2 with volunteers collecting donations from shoppers at local Walmart, Dierbergs, and Midtowne Market stores. Since 2007, Shower of Love has collected over $966,000 in donations. (To volunteer on May 2, call 636-9369-6200.)
Donations will benefit 10 local non-profits, Our Lady’s Inn Maternity Homes, Birthright St. Charles, Birthright Wentzville, Crisis Nursery St. Charles and Wentzville, Youth In Need Teen Parent and Early Head & Head Start programs, Mary Queen of Angels, Nurses for Newborns, The Sparrow’s Nest, ThriVe St. Louis, and Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Service. All donations are distributed to our non-profit partners, who serve families and babies that are homeless, living in extreme poverty, have a child with a medical condition, or are teen parents in need of additional support.
Starting in April, there will be a collection box at the Boone’s Trail Branch Library in New Melle, as well as other locations throughout the county.
