St. Charles County police seized more than a quarter of a million dollars worth of marijuana and THC-laced vape cartridges during a traffic stop on Interstate 70.
Around midnight on April 29, a County officer initiated a traffic stop on a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, near the Wentzville Parkway exit, for speeding and an improperly displayed license plate. The driver, a 26-year-old man reportedly from Colorado Springs, Colorado, acted nervous when questioned by the officer about the presence of numerous bottles scattered throughout the vehicle with what appeared to be urine. During an exterior search of the vehicle, the officer’s canine partner alerted to the scent of drugs at the truck bed. Upon search, the officer uncovered several duffle bags containing approximately 113 pounds of marijuana and 1,400 vape cartridges.
The driver was taken into custody and faces a felony criminal charge for drug trafficking.
