Three Summer Gardening Classes Offered by MU Extension

Justin Keay, MU Extension Horticulture Specialist, and St. Charles County Master Gardeners will offer three classes this summer.


  •  Planning a fall vegetable garden, June 26, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
     Justin will present the timeline for starting fall vegetable plants and direct seeding of fall root crops. Some vegetable seed giveaway included.

  •  Using herbs and constructing moss balls (Kokedama), July 16, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
     Master Gardeners will demonstrate using herbs in teas and dips. Each registrant will be able to construct a moss ball.

  •  Using cover crops, July 17, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
     Justin will discuss the benefits of using cover crops to supply nitrogen to garden soil and varieties that work well in our climate. Some giveaways to help you get started with             cover crops.

The fee is $10 per class and registration is required by five days prior to the class date. To register, call 636-970-3000; all major credit cards accepted. Classes will be held at University of Missouri Extension Center, 260 Brown Road, St. Peters, 63376. 

Master Gardeners receive numerous hours of training from University of Missouri Extension. They volunteer their time to promote and to demonstrate good gardening principles and techniques, as well as participate in projects that enhance the beauty of our community.
