An estimated 600 motorcycles passed through our area Monday, May 20th as part of the 31st Annual Run for the Wall event. Run for the Wall was founded by Vietnam Veterans and recognizes the sacrifices and contributions made by ALL VETERANS who have served our nation.
“We Ride for Those Who Can’t” is their mantra. The ride started in California on May 17 and ended in Washington D.C. on May 25th. Members of the New Melle VFW Post 5651 gathered with other supporters at the overpass west of Wright City to wave the riders on. Paul Musket joined the ride the next day as the group left Wentzville. Dennis Kluge traveled with the group the entire route.
As the bikers arrived at the New Melle VFW on Hwy. Z, they passed under a huge American flag suspended over the roadway by the Wentzville Fire Dept.
