On Friday, May 31, the 2019 New Melle Festival Queen Pageant candidates were successful in hosting a memorable kickball tournament in loving memory of Trevor Joerling for the fifth year in a row.
Totals are still in the works, as there are still some donations trickling in, including a generous company that has decided to match their employees’ donations. In all, the New Melle Festival Queen Pageant organization is on track to donate $6,000 in proceeds to the Friends of Kids with Cancer organization!
With weather on our side, we were able to play all scheduled games! There were a total of 18 teams, including some tournament alumni - teams that have participated all five years - as well as some new faces! Two teams of employees from Mastercard joined us for their second year and we were happy to have them. We hosted a 50/50 raffle that raised over $300. The winner of the raffle was announced prior to the quarter-final games and all of the winning funds were generously donated back to the cause! During this announcement period, a moment of silence was held while a small group, including Todd, Brandee, and Darby Joerling, released lanterns into the night sky in the outfield of Field 1.
Our championship game, played by "Free Ballers” and the “IncrediBalls" ended at 12:00 am and made the "Free Ballers" our tournament champions!
Our tournament could not have progressed through the evening so smoothly without the master bracket scheduler, John Hecei! John helped us place teams as they moved through their first games. A special thank you to Sharon, a Friends of Kids with Cancer representative that came out to the tournament to support the event.
Additionally, we are immensely grateful for the long list of business sponsors. The community rockstars are as follows: .

A couple of teams had some younger kickers.
