Two pictures with fascinating perspectives topped the judging for the May “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest. First place, titled “Glass Man,” was photographed by Patrick Mackin of Augusta, MO.
In the entrance door window of the business, he captured the reflection of the owner and his dog. Runner up, Dennis Ragan from O’Fallon, MO, composed a picture titled “Augusta Portrait.” He focused on an artist painting the Wine Hall during the Plein Air Art Festival. Congratulations to both Patrick and Dennis!!
Both prizes for this “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest were donated by Augusta businesses. First place winner Patrick Mackin will redeem the “Kakao Chocolate and Augusta Wine Pairings for Four” from Augusta Winery. Dennis Ragan won the opportunity to use a $25.00 gift certificate to any Augusta business from Quaint, Cozy & Quiet Airbnb.
NEXT UP IN SEPTEMBER is the Kids’ “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest. This contest challenges kids 12 and under to submit photos taken in the Town of Augusta. The theme is nature: that includes all things outdoors from flowers, plants, and trees to all types of animals and insects, to gorgeous sunsets and scenic views, as well as picnics and outdoor activities. Families have been known to take a trip to Augusta and spend some time clicking pictures. Not just the kids participate, but also the adults take photos. Who knows for sure? The 12 year old and under may win in September and an adult or teen relative may claim a prize in the November contest. Get a head start! No procrastination!
Pictures are evaluated according to their composition, clarity, and uniqueness to the Town of Augusta. Judging is done by local artists, photographers, and/or those with an art appreciation background.
