Service Van Caught Fire in Nichole Parc Oct. 18

On Friday, October 18th, at 3:46 p.m.  a service van was reported on fire while parked in the driveway of a home in the 3900 block of Bette Court in Nichole Parc.
A carpet-cleaning technician and one resident were inside the house at the time. A neighbor noticed the van on fire and alerted the homeowner. Another nearby resident reported that the flames were heavy and intense, and pretty much surrounding the whole front area of the van including the engine and front driver area. Firefighters from New Melle and Wentzville were dispatched to the scene due to the close proximity of the home. New Melle Fire Chief Rick Massey said the fire appeared to have started in the engine compartment, but that the insurance company may investigate further. Photo courtesy of Ken Birk.
