Rebecca Meier from New Melle, MO, daughter of Tamira Meier and Kevin Benne, and James Meier and Becky Lorey, has been selected to participate in the 2020 Miss Missouri USA® Pageant.
The Pageant will take place November 30th - December 1st, 2019. She will be competing as Miss New Melle, and will compete in swimsuit, evening gown, and personal interview. The pageant has two age divisions, and the winners will represent our state in the 2020 MISS USA® and MISS TEEN USA® Pageant. MISS USA® goes on to compete in the MISS UNIVERSE® Pageant. The MISS USA pageant system stresses good morals, physical fitness, communication skills, social awareness, and community involvement.
Rebecca will be running on a platform of promoting opportunities for women to expand beyond traditional pursuits and representing women of diverse disciplines. Professionally, she has built a career in STEM, working as an Analytical Chemist. In her personal life, she trains as a mixed martial artist, works with St. Louis community organizations that help refugee families settle and adjust to life as Americans, and she maintains her passion for the arts through sculpture and opera.
Meier said, “The future of pageants is changing to reflect the diverse contestants who participate, and I am working to be part of that positive change. No longer the beauty pageants of old, we are beginning to see a reflection of what modern women truly are: multi-faceted, talented, ambitious, composed, and accomplished. I have made it my mission to represent all of these things as I take the stage.”
