It’s almost that time of year again- Festival time in New Melle! Children and adults alike will enjoy coming together for this year’s New Melle Festival June 18-20. Highlights include Thursday night – Family Night, Friday night entertainment by Trixie Delight, and Saturday Brushville takes the stage to perform.
Thursday’s Family Night will feature many of the same favorite activities from years past. There will be children’s entertainment featuring balloon art and magic, emergency vehicles from St Charles County Police and St Charles County Ambulance, and new this year, a special craft by the New Melle Festival Queens. There will also be a caricaturist and of course carnival rides. There will be fun for the whole family and admission is only $2 per person or $1 with the donation of a canned food item.
Friday night starts the weekend entertainment off with local favorite Trixie Delight. The New Melle Festival Queen Pageant takes place at 7pm, with the announcement of the 2020 Queen at 9pm. The grounds open at 6pm with an admission of $5, ages 12 and under are free.
Saturday is a big day for Festival goers. The day starts with the 2nd Annual Gizzard Run 5k and 1-mile Fun Run, which starts and finishes at NMSR. The race will start at 9am, with registration and packet pick up taking place at 7:30am. Preregistration is also available for this race at our website (online registration available soon!) Registrants will receive a commemorative race shirt as well as a coupon for a free cup of gizzards. The New Melle Festival Parade will wind through the streets of New Melle starting at 1:30pm. The theme this year is the “The Roaring 20’s.” After the parade, the grounds will open at 3pm. The Baby Contest will take place at 3:30 pm. There will also be a Rugby Match taking place on the football field. Brushville will take the stage at 8:30 pm. This year, as the New Melle Festival comes to a close, there will be a fireworks show to end it with a bang!
