It is not your typical spring at New Melle Sports and Rec. If you drive by the complex, you’ll notice that there aren’t the usual kids running around, practices happening, or families gathering to watch their children play ball. Coronavirus has, for all intents and purposes, brought activities at NMSR to a screeching halt.
With everything going on, a decision was made to move the annual New Melle Festival to August 13-15. We are working hard to bring all the features everyone loves about the Festival to this later date. Family Night will still take place on Thursday, August 13. Trixie Delight will still headline the stage on Friday night, August 14. On August 15, the Gizzard Run and Parade will highlight the day, and Brushville will light up the stage at night. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Festival in August!
The Baseball, Softball, and T-ball programs have all been postponed, and are projected to have a late May/early June start on the season, running through July. Flag football season has been reduced to a 2-week tournament starting in late May. Spring Golf has been canceled; however, Summer Golf is still on as planned. Tackle Football Registration will open soon for the fall as well.
New Melle Sports and Rec is still planning ahead for late summer/fall activities. Tackle football, youth soccer, adult kickball, and fall baseball and softball will all be offered by NMSR. Check newmellesportsandrec.com for info on when those registrations will take place.
