Members of Friedens Peace UCC in New Melle organized a parade past the homes of members of their congregation and the community on Sunday, April 26. Church members honked horns, waved and shouted greetings as they drove by the homes of members not able to connect to the current virtual worship services. It was a wonderful way to spread some cheer and let people know they are not forgotten. Vehicles from 8 families drove past 5 homes on a beautiful spring Sunday, Since members knew the parade was coming they were able to wait on their porch or yard and wave back; one senior even had a sign in her yard thanking the church for remembering her. The event lifted the spirits of the those in the parade and those watching.
Lining up to start with a pick-up in the lead with
the church sign on the back of a truck.
This family made signs, “Hope to see you soon”
and “We Love and Miss You.”
