Imagine Your Story

by Tiffani Stewart
St. Charles City-County Library

Imagine your story! Are you sword fighting with a knight in shining armor? Did you find the key to a mysterious door? Are you slowly making your way through a forbidden jungle?

Whether your story is full of space creatures on another planet or endless sleep in a soft bed, this year's Summer Challenge will help you "Imagine Your Story". Open your favorite books and find new ones too when you read, play, and learn all summer for fun and prizes! The library's Summer Challenge is for readers of all ages, from babies to adults.

What is Summer Challenge? In the past, when it was known as Summer Reading, a participant registered and collected a gameboard from the Library. This year, things have changed. Do our customers still use gameboards to play and participate? Yes! Do they still win prizes for finishing Challenge activities? Yes! Do they come into the Library to register and pick up their supplies? No. Because public safety – and especially large gatherings – are still a concern, the Library is offering a Summer Challenge experience that is completely online. Use your computer, tablet, or device to participate. Register online and mark your gameboard progress using the Summer Challenge app or website. All of the activities can be completed at home.

We’re pleased to announce that customers can even enjoy special Summer Challenge performers and presentations online. Each Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm starting June 1, families can tune into our Facebook page to see shows performed by Tommy Terrific, World Bird Sanctuary, Mad Science, and many more! Adults can enjoy evening concerts, author events, and special demonstrations. Our online classes & events calendar is full of virtual learning and entertainment – storytimes, crafting sessions, book discussion groups, and even dance lessons!

Need to get out of the house? Take the Summer Challenge “Enchanted Tour”. Visit each Library branch and find the decorated post outside. If you visit 5 or 10 different branches, you’ll win extra prizes. Listen to an eAudiobook with the family as you embark on a driving adventure.

Life may look a little different right now, but Summer Challenge at the Library offers the same great opportunities to read, learn, and grow. Challenge yourself this summer to “Imagine Your Story”. https://www.mylibrary.org/summerchallenge
