On October 23, 2020, students and faculty at Daniel Boone Elementary in New Melle recognized Mr. Rick Massey, former New Melle Fire Chief, for his many years serving the community and in particular, the school.

Everyone waived and cheered (while social distanced, of course) as he was driven through school parking lot in a fire truck one last time. During the parade the teachers also presented Chief Massey with hand-written notes of appreciation from each student.
