On Thursday, November 12, the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America issued a press release that they made the decision to modify the annual Scouting for Food drive. This year, after careful consideration of the rapidly rising COVID-19 cases, the directive has been given for Scouts to NOT distribute the bags on Saturday, Nov 14, thus also not picking up those bags on a door-to-door basis on the following Saturday, November 21.
However, Pack 359 leaders and our Scouts know what a dire year this has been for our area food pantries and are committed to do whatever can still be done safely to help those in need. As previously printed in the Boone Country Connection's November issue, Pack 359 will still have collection points (bins or boxes) at Lake Sherwood mail center, Augusta Shores' Berg House, the vestibule at the Augusta Visitors Center, and will now add collection points at Augusta Elementary, and under the dining hall porch at Bethany UCC in Schluersburg. In the Marthasville area, collection points will also be at S&R Convenience Center, K&R Food Market, and Cori's Twin Gables.
If you are still able to help these fine Scouts with their food collection efforts, it is extremely valued and much appreciated. For any questions regarding the Augusta/Marthasville Pack 359 area's Scouting for Food modified plan, contact Sarah at 913-579-8133.
