August 24th, 2013—May 10th, 2022
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that “Monsignor” Jackson took his last breath on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Jackson was our parish dog, and we will always have the beautiful memories we all made together. He was such a good dog, and I was blessed to be with him in his final goodbye.
While I miss him terribly, Jackson was such a lucky dog, and we were all fortunate to have known him. Amidst the tears that still happen when I think of Monsignor, many things make me smile. Jackson loved the Morning Mass at the Chapel and the daily mass community. He visited with everyone before making himself at home, usually in front of the altar. Jackson loved wintertime, especially playing in the snow. No matter what time of year, he was always excited about our morning walks to the school and our trips to the bank.
A dog couldn’t have had more love and treats in his life than Jackson. Many thanks to the crew at Straatmann's, the New Melle Baking Company and all the treat givers for spoiling Jackson over the years; he knew many of your cars and couldn’t wait to greet you. (Except for the UPS and FedEx drivers, you were not his favorites. He growled and barked every time.) Thanks to the truckers who honked at Jackson and me on our many trips up and down our hill. Jackson was not only loved by our parish but was a friend to many in our community. Special thanks to New Melle Animal Clinic for their care for Jackson in his aging health and decline.
In case you are curious, why Monsignor? I have to pick up after him. If he were a Deacon, he would be picking up after me. Monsignor Jackson was loved his whole life, and we will miss him the rest of ours.
