Best Apple Crop in 50 Years at Centennial Farms Augusta

Centennial Farms in Augusta is thrilled to announce the best apple crop in 50 years. They have around 800 trees in the orchard, and the branches are touching the ground. After two years of small crops because of frost, the trees are making up for it. The hot summer days help excellent flavor develop in the apples, and cool nights improve the color.

Jonathan, Gold Delicious and 13 other varieties are ripening at Centennial Farms. Jonathan apples will be ready to pick your own around the end of August, and Gold Delicious a week or two after. Hours at the farm are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Honey, apple butter and preserves, all made at the farm, are available in the market. The address is 199 Jackson St. in Augusta, and the phone number is 636-228-4338. The playground has been expanded, and the Hayrides will start in September. With all the improvements at the farm, there will be an admission charge in September and October of $5.00 for those wishing to pick apples and take a hayride (kids under 3 are free.)

Come and enjoy a fun day in Augusta at Centennial Farms. The farm will be open during the Augusta Harvest Festival on September 17.
