Kids, kids, and more aspiring kid photographers! Fascinating photos, all from the kids’ point of view! There were over 30 entries this year, and the competition was fierce. The judges had to make some tough choices. Thank you to all who submitted photos for the contest. The winners of the 2022 Kids’ “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest are First place: “Sunset in the Bottoms” by Nick B. of Augusta, MO, Second place: “Sad Little Window” by Kyra F. of Augusta, MO and Third place: “Waterfall” by Cienna D. of Augusta, MO.

The Augusta Town Board provided the cash prizes: $20.00 for Third Place, $25.00 for Second Place, and the First Place prize of $30.00. Congratulations to Nick, Kyra, and Cienna!

Enlargements of the winning photos are in The Augusta Library. A traveling display board of all the 4 × 6 entries will initially be set up at Augusta Elementary School and then transferred to the library in Augusta for viewing.

A special thanks to Sarah Bayless, the art teacher at Augusta Elementary, for her unit on photography. The support from the school assists in making this contest successful. Thanks to those who found out about this kids’ photo contest and sent in entries. One of the goals of the “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest is to assist amateur photographers of all ages in elevating their photography skills. In 2023, look for some adult and teen contests in addition to the Kids’ 12 & Under “Best of Augusta” Photo Contest.
