Tell It Like It Was - Razing the Smithy

By Paul Ovaitt

Gentle readers, I bring you a November 9, 1977, article from the Washington Missourian. In this story, you will learn more about Wheelock Crosby Brown, the historian and restorationist, who catalogued and dismantled the blacksmith shop on Walnut St. in Augusta, MO.

The article also reports on Enid Holt Struckhoff, daughter of Wilbert Holt, the blacksmith. Enid shares her memories of the smithy.

I found this newspaper about 2 weeks ago in a file drawer of the Sehrt Museum. When I read it, I was sure I needed to share it with you. Enjoy!
