Gentle readers, in this latest museum post, Digging Up Bones - Part 1, we look back about 1000 years to a nearby village of Mississippian Culture Indians. The village was likely a satellite of Cahokia Mounds.
The story features a very fitting poem by Maria Smith of WashMO interspersed throughout. Glennon Stelzer makes an appearance, as does his daughter, Glenda Drier.
Professor Van Riedhead sheds light on the excavation, and advises me to pay close attention to the historic role his wife, Mary Ann Riedhead, played in this event. https://www.augustamomuseum.com/tell-it-like-it-was-stories
